Docket No. 2006D-0480

The FDA is now trying to take the power to buy supplements away from you…

April 30th may be the day it happens.

If this goes through, you might not be able to get any of the supplements that you crave… creatine… green tea extract… etc without a prescription. It seems that the pharmacutical companies are looking to get a bigger piece of the pie.

FDA “experts”, you know, the ones that outlawed ephedra (although maybe 20 people died an ephedra based death) and reapproved Vioxx (after 50,000+ deaths), will be the people that get to decide what you get to take and what you don’t.

I was reading Jon Benson’s blog post yesterday and there are some interesting arguments… I especially like the argument that most doctors know virtually jack squat about nutrition and supplementation.

I’ve seen this phenomenon as well.

Whether or not you agree that supplementation is for you or not… I truly have a problem with a government entity telling me what I can and can’t take… especially with the track record they have.

Do you think that the ephedra ban was without greased palms from BigPharm?

Yeah right?

Do you think that the Vioxx reapproval was without greased palms EVEN AFTER all of those people died?

The fact is… you should be able to do your own research and make these types of decisions for yourself.

If this goes… think about it… only doctors would be able to prescribe your supplements… which would raise the price of the supplement (which could be picked up by paying a co-pay), thereby causing health insurance premiums to skyrocket.

Interesting, huh?

Go here to check out the discussion over at Jon Benson’s place…

Go here to check out the actual Congressional file discussing the resolution…

And go here to make yourself heard…

Agree or disagree… it doesn’t matter… this is about freedom… not just supplementation.
