Have you ever heard of Pareto’s Principle…

If you haven’t, maybe you’ve heard of the 80/20 rule?

They are the same things. Basically, what this rule states is that 80% of your results are going to come from 20% of your efforts. It also says that the other 80% of your efforts go into producing the other 20% of results.

(the principle can be used to describe other things as well, but this part of the def works well for us right now)

This is the Law of Diminishing Returns in action.

When it comes to fat loss… and even life for that matter… too many people focus on the “icing” of the cake… the things that don’t really contribute to results in a “mass action” type of way.

Whole books get written on these “icing” phenomena. People put the practices to use and then wonder why it’s taking so long to get where they want to get, goal wise.

You’ll hear me discuss how important the fundamentals are: the reason for this revolves around the fact that the correct fundamentals, while not difficult necessarily… and not too time consuming, will produce almost all of your results.

Hear me out for a second… here’s a few examples.

A basketball player that knows how to shoot but can’t dunk will be more productive than that same player that can dunk but can’t shoot…

An actor that has the fundamentals of acting down but can’t cry on cue will be more productive than that same actor that can cry on cue but can’t act…

Do you see where I’m going here?

Do yourself a quick favor…

If you really want to get ahead in life… get rid of all of the things that only produce your 20% of results. Remember, that should free up A LOT of your time.

Take a look at your personal ROI in regards to the time/money/energy ratios.

You may wonder why I am writing about this… and… of course… I’ll tell you.

Too many people are spinning their wheels when it comes to fat loss. And, the diet and fitness industry really doesn’t help either. You see, many resources try to come up with every possible avenue for you to drop body fat. They include every part of the “icing” that they can find.

Unfortunately, most people disregard the things that are fundamentally sound… and tend to gravitate to the “icing”.

I’m not trying to lay this out as a cheap plug… but the fact remains that the Fat Loss Black Book only focuses on the things that bring maximum results. The fundamentals… all you really NEED to know.

It’s concise and to the point… and easy to read.

Could I include more ways of burning calories or other little tricks… sure.

Here are a few example of what I could have put in… but didn’t.

1. Drinking ice cold water burns more calories than drinking regular water due to your body having to work to raise your body temperature. Does it burn calories? Yep. Does it burn a lot? Nope. Do people start drinking ice cold water, neglecting the “ice cream” headaches and get frustrated because it isn’t working… all the time.

2. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Does it help burn more calories… sure. Do people start taking the stairs and get injured because they aren’t used to it… yep. Do people start sweating at work… when they need to be dry… of course. Finally, do these same people do anything else because they’ve started “taking the stairs”… many times… no.

3. Basing your results on a pill or a certain food. Here’s an example of a company that is tauting it’s new formula for the Acadia tree… supposedly the number one “source of traditional medicines for those living in Africa, Australia, Asia, and the Americas” back in the day. Does it work… maybe. Will people try to use this without being in conjunction with the fundamentals… of course. Will this product have a condition that states “when used with proper diet and exercise program”… you betcha.

Can you see how people focus on these fixes?

Have you ever done it? I know I have.

Make sure you think about all of the things that aren’t really helping with your results… remember the fundamentals in everything that you do…

And pick up the Fat Loss Black Book while your at it :)
