Summer is finally here…

(The fitness community sighs)

I have a favor to ask. I know that summer is here and the fun has began…

Just don’t neglect your workouts. I can’t tell you how many people work their fannies off during the fall, winter, and spring just to let it all go to hell during the summer.

I mean, come on people. It’s nice outside. You would think that people would be exercising MORE during the summer months. But, alas, it’s not the case.

On another note, I just came back from a few weddings over the last couple of weeks. What is it about summer and outside weddings that screams “Great idea”. I was a groomsman in both and let me tell you, I can run 3 miles and sweat less…

But that’s another story.

The real thing I want to discuss is a specific conversation I had with my buddy (who will remain nameless) about the preparations for the wedding. You see, both he and his new wife were extremely happy about the way the wedding went. However, I could tell that it still bothered him that neither of them was in the greatest shape.

Spending thousands of dollars on wedding pictures will do that to you.

“I’ll tell you, the fact that I’ll always look back on those wedding pictures and think ‘I can’t believe I couldn’t lose more weight than that for my big day’”

A question:

Do you know how common that statement is?

The problem with my friend and his new wife wasn’t the fact that they weren’t trying. No, they had locked themselves in perpetual weight loss hell, to which there is no escape. I have a wonderful flowchart of the typical person’s weight loss endeavor inside of “Weight Loss Black Ops”, but to give you the quick and dirty, almost every diet plan out there will cause you to eventually return back to the weight you are now. It might be two months, it might be two years…

It doesn’t matter.

As an aside, my friend is no dummy either. The fact is, there are certain principles that you just can’t violate if you are trying to lose weight, or you’ll always gain it back… everytime

This is one of the reasons that many people just don’t attempt to lose weight… they figure that they’ll just end up gaining it back eventually.

How about that for positive reinforcement?
